  • What is the scope of practice of a general dentist?

    A general dentist will work in a dental clinic, polyclinic or hospital practice providing regular dental services to out patients in the community and hospital in patients with acute or chronic dental problems.


    Specialist dentists will practice in hospitals or clinics in their defined specialist field accepting patients referred by general dentists.

    Many healthcare systems report a shortage of dentists and dental specialists and have work for dentists as locums (contract staff) and in permanent jobs.
