Emergency medicine physicians are specialists who work in the emergency departments of hospitals managing all types of acute clinical presentations, medical emergencies, major trauma and often major incidents or disasters. Their expertise lies in the resuscitation and prompt stabilisation of a patient's condition prior to hospital admission, referral to other specialists or discharge home.
Emergency Medicine is a relatively new speciality and the healthcare systems of many countries do not recognise it as a distinct speciality, staffing their hospital emergency departments with physicians trained in a variety of disciplines such as general practice, internal medicine and orthopaedics.
At Odyssey we specialise in recruiting physicians with internationally recognised qualifications in emergency medicine for roles with reputable employers who value the unique attributes of the emergency medicine physician. We also recruit junior doctors looking for experience in emergency medicine as part of an accredited postgraduate training programme or simply for the valuable experience a stint in emergency medicine offers to those training in other related specialities.
