A consultant adult general psychiatrist is sought for a full time permanent position in the Intensive Recovery Service of a tertiary care psychiatry department.
The Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS) serves the lower North Island of New Zealand covering a large geographical area which includes local, regional, and national services.
The Intensive Recovery Service (IRS) manages adult in patients and out patients with severe acute mental illness. Services are provided from 2 general hospitals and a Crisis Resolution Service (CRS) which provides 24-hour, 7 days a week assessment and short-term treatment services for people experiencing a serious mental health crisis. The team accepts urgent referrals from general practitioners and a variety of other health professionals, Emergency Departments and the police.
Responsibilities include
- assessment of patients, formulation of diagnosis and treatment plans
- on call rota participation
- education and supervision of resident doctors
- ASMS Scale salary for 40 hour work week plus additional on call allowances
- superannuation
- 6 weeks annual leave
- relocation package for international physicians
- FRANZCP or equivalent qualification
- Vocationally registered in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) or hold equivalent qualification and be able qualify for registration with MCNZ.
