The Role
You will provide comprehensive anaesthetic services across a broad surgical and procedural caseload, contributing to high-quality, patient-centred care within a collaborative multidisciplinary framework.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivery of anaesthesia for a wide range of specialties including general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics & gynaecology, urology, ENT, paediatrics and ophthalmology
- Anaesthetic support for endoscopy, diagnostic imaging and interventional procedures
- Participation in perioperative assessment and optimisation of patients
- Contribution to acute and chronic pain management services
- Involvement in teaching, supervision and training of junior medical staff and trainees
- Opportunities to engage in clinical leadership, service development and research
The Anaesthesia Department is central to the hospital's expanding surgical services and operates within a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility.
- Up to 8 operating theatres and 2 procedural rooms (on completion of expansion)
- Advanced monitoring systems and modern recovery/day-stay units
- Supported by a Level 5 Intensive Care Unit
- Expanding interventional radiology and cardiology services
- Accredited for ANZCA training and GP Anaesthesia training
- Active participation in simulation, education and professional development
Candidate Requirements
- Primary medical degree eligible for registration with AHPRA
- Fellowship of ANZCA (or within 6 months of completion), or eligibility via an approved overseas specialist pathway
- Demonstrated contemporary experience and clinical competence in anaesthesia
- Commitment to teaching, clinical governance and multidisciplinary teamwork
