An excellent opportunity is available for Rehabilitation Medicine Registrars to join a leading regional teaching health service in Victoria, Australia. These accredited training positions provide broad clinical exposure across neurological and musculoskeletal rehabilitation within a highly supportive multidisciplinary environment aligned with the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine training pathway.
This role is ideal for doctors seeking advanced rehabilitation medicine training with strong consultant supervision, structured teaching, and exposure to complex inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation care.

Position Detail

Commences early 2027 for 12 months

The Role Successful candidates will complete two six-month rotations across:
  • Neurological Rehabilitation
  • Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation
Clinical exposure includes management of patients with:
  • Stroke
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Acquired brain injury
  • Multiple sclerosis and demyelinating disorders
  • Amputee rehabilitation
  • Orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions
  • Transplant rehabilitation patients
Registrars will also participate in:
  • Rehabilitation assessments
  • Specialist outpatient clinics including spasticity management
  • Multidisciplinary rehabilitation planning
  • Some after-hours subacute ward coverage
Training & Professional Development The program offers:
  • Accredited AFRM training positions
  • Dedicated teaching aligned with the AFRM curriculum
  • Close support from Rehabilitation Medicine Training Victoria (RMTV)
  • Strong consultant supervision and mentoring
  • Exposure to collaborative care alongside Geriatric and Palliative Medicine teams
  • Opportunities for research, audit and quality improvement activities
Applicants will also be required to submit preferences through the RMTV matching process.
