An exciting opportunity is available for an Advanced Trainee in Geriatric Medicine to join a major regional teaching health service in Victoria, Australia.

This RACP-accredited training position offers broad clinical exposure, strong consultant supervision, and flexible training pathways within a progressive and supportive geriatric medicine department.

This role is ideal for trainees seeking high-quality regional training with exposure to acute, subacute, community and multidisciplinary geriatric care, alongside excellent career development opportunities.

This post commences in January 2027.

Training Program Highlights
The service offers:
  • RACP-accredited Geriatric Medicine training
  • Flexible 1-2 year regional training pathways
  • A collaborative 3-year pathway in partnership with a major metropolitan tertiary hospital, including potential guaranteed registrar progression opportunities

Clinical Rotations May Include
  • Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM)
  • Orthogeriatrics and Surgical Liaison
  • Acute Geriatric Medicine
  • Emergency Department Geriatric Assessment and Liaison
  • Community Geriatrics and Hospital in the Home programs
Additional Training Opportunities
  • Weekly specialist outpatient clinics
  • Telehealth and digital health training
  • Fortnightly Victorian Geriatric Medicine teaching program
  • Multidisciplinary and consultant-led education sessions
  • Exposure to movement disorders, falls and balance, continence, cognitive disorders and chronic disease management

The department provides integrated inpatient, outpatient and community-based services across a large regional catchment. Trainees work alongside experienced Geriatricians, Rehabilitation Physicians, Palliative Care Physicians and multidisciplinary allied health teams delivering comprehensive care to older adults.
