Accredited AFRM Training Opportunity in a Leading Regional Health Service An excellent opportunity is available for a Rehabilitation Medicine Registrar to join one of Victoria's leading regional health services for a 12-month accredited training position commencing in 2027.

Accredited by the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFRM), this position provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation experience, structured education, strong consultant supervision and exposure to a broad spectrum of rehabilitation medicine within a modern multidisciplinary service.

Position Highlights
  • Full-Time Fixed-Term appointment (12 months)
  • 86 hours per fortnight, including protected training time
  • Accredited AFRM training position
  • Salary in accordance with the Victorian Medical Specialists Award
  • Comprehensive consultant supervision and mentoring

Training Programme Successful applicants will complete two six-month rotations:

Neurological Rehabilitation Manage patients with:
  • Stroke
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Acquired brain injury
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Other demyelinating neurological disorders
Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Gain experience managing:
  • Amputee rehabilitation
  • Orthopaedic rehabilitation
  • Musculoskeletal conditions
  • Transplant rehabilitation patients
Clinical Experience

Registrars will benefit from broad clinical exposure, including:
  • Inpatient rehabilitation medicine
  • Specialist outpatient rehabilitation clinics
  • Spasticity Management Clinic
  • Functional rehabilitation assessments
  • Multidisciplinary rehabilitation planning
  • Limited after-hours subacute ward cover
The role also provides valuable opportunities to work alongside experienced specialists in:
  • Rehabilitation Medicine
  • Geriatric Medicine
  • Palliative Medicine
Participation in research projects and quality improvement initiatives is actively encouraged.

You will receive:

  • Comprehensive multidisciplinary rehabilitation
Registrars work closely with rehabilitation physicians, geriatricians, palliative care specialists and an experienced allied health team including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, psychologists, dietitians and social workers.

Essential Requirements Applicants should possess:
  • Medical degree recognised for registration in Australia.
  • Current or eligible registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Eligibility for appointment to an accredited AFRM training programme.
  • Demonstrated interest in Rehabilitation Medicine.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to education, research and multidisciplinary patient care.
