The Victorian Geriatric Medicine Training Program (VGMTP) is a statewide initiative designed to strengthen the geriatric medicine workforce, improve advanced training quality, and increase equitable access to specialist care for older people across Victoria.
The FIGM role provides leadership and support for Advanced Trainees across the Greater Victorian Alliance, particularly those based in regional and geographically dispersed locations.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting high-quality geriatric medicine training
- Providing educational and mentoring support to trainees
- Conducting on-site and virtual engagement with regional trainees
- Strengthening collaboration across participating health services
- Contributing to the continued development of statewide geriatric medicine training programs
