Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist - Arabic Speaking

The Opportunity
A hospital is seeking an experienced, Arabic-speaking Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to join its specialist medical team in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Western-trained consultant to practise within a major private hospital offering advanced medical services, modern clinical facilities and multidisciplinary care.

The facility is a 300-bed healthcare organisation employing more than 400 physicians across over 40 specialties. The hospital provides patient-centred care guided by international standards, clinical excellence and a holistic approach to health and wellbeing. 

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive consultant-level obstetric and gynaecological services to a diverse patient population. Fluency in Arabic is essential for this appointment.

Key Responsibilities

The Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist will:

• Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment for obstetric and gynaecological patients.
• Manage normal and high-risk pregnancies at consultant level.
• Provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care.
• Perform gynaecological surgery and obstetric procedures within the candidate's approved scope of practice.
• Manage acute and elective gynaecological conditions.
• Participate in the consultant on-call rota.
• Work collaboratively with maternal-fetal medicine, neonatology, anaesthesia, radiology, pathology and other clinical services.
• Maintain high standards of patient safety, clinical governance and medical documentation.
• Contribute to departmental education, quality improvement and service development.
• Communicate sensitively and effectively with patients and their families in both Arabic and English.

Essential Requirements Applicants must:

• Hold a recognised primary medical degree.
• Have completed specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada or the United States.
• Hold one of the following specialist qualifications:
  • FRCOG with UK CCT in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, or an accepted equivalent UK specialist training credential;
  • FRCSC in Obstetrics and Gynaecology;
  • American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology certification.
• Be eligible for Consultant classification and professional registration with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
• Have substantial post-specialist clinical experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
• Be fluent in spoken Arabic.
• Have excellent written and spoken English.
• Demonstrate strong communication, leadership and multidisciplinary working skills.
• Maintain current professional registration and good standing in the country of practice.

Desirable Experience Preference may be given to candidates with:

• Recent experience in a leading Western hospital or internationally accredited private hospital.
• Expertise in high-risk obstetrics.
• Advanced gynaecological or minimally invasive surgery skills.
• Experience caring for private and internationally diverse patient populations.
• An established record of teaching, clinical governance or service development.
• A relevant subspecialty interest.
