- WACHS is the largest health system in Australia. It is also one of the biggest in the world. WACHS provides health services to 531,000 people. This includes more than 57,000 Aboriginal people. The system covers an area of over 2.5 million square kilometers.
- WACHS is a network of health facilities across 7 regions including regional hospitals, district hospitals, nursing posts and community health centres.
All candidates must be able to provide the following:
- A current Working with Children Card (can be obtained locally)
- Current Criminal Record Screening Clearance (within 12 months)
- Medical Indemnity Insurance details
- FRACGP / FCRRM or equivalent qualification
- Joint Consultative Committee on Anaesthesia (JCCA)
- Expertise in paediatric and obstetric anaesthesia
- AHPRA specialist registration
- Right to work in Australia
The Goldfields Area
- named because of the abundance of gold discoveries in the late 19th century that sparked a rush of fortune seekers from around the globe to the region, all hoping to find their fortune. It remains a globally significant mining and energy region and is the premier gold producer for the state. Gold and nickel production are the main drivers of the local economy and are supported by the region’s agriculture, pastoral, tourism, fishing, and aquaculture industries.
- 55,000 people with a median age of 36 years. The region has a rich cultural history. About 10% of the population identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. The Goldfields also has a large transient population of those who work in the region on a fly-in/fly-out basis.

This region is home to many rare and endangered animals.
