- full time 12 month employment contract with a leading public sector healthcare organisation
- theatre complex consists of nine operating theatres, plus use of a theatre at a private hospital.
- hospital has a closed 6 bed Level 2 ICU (soon to be expanded to 8 beds) providing a high standard of general intensive care, including complex multi-system support (invasive mechanical ventilation, cardiovascular monitoring and support, renal replacement therapy). It is a mixed unit, admitting medical, surgical, trauma and paediatric patients.
- Anaesthetic Department is staffed by 26 specialist anaesthetists, 9 registrars and 6 senior house officers. It currently operates 2 separate on-call rosters for anaesthesia and intensive care.
- cover almost all sub-specialties (except neurosurgery and cardiac surgery)
- department accredited by CICM (College of Intensive Care Medicine) and the ANZCA (Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists) for Basic and Advanced Training.
- 40 hour working week plus on call duties

- 2-3 sessions per week with consultant supervision to develop a portfolio interest - Perioperative medicine, airway, regional, paeds, MH etc
- 1 non clinical session per week for training and development opportunities

- Fellowship of the Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthesia (FANZCA) (or equivalent overseas qualification).
- Medical Degree recognised by WHO
- Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, or be eligible for vocational or provisional vocational registration
- Salary ASMS scale for 40 hour week plus allowances NZD 220,000 - 400,00 PA
