- permanent full time contract with a 260 bed public sector hospital
- 40 hour working week plus on call duties
- ED serves a high Maori, high needs populations, all whist living in an area that is rich in culture and heritage and boast some of the most scenic and exciting coastal areas of New Zealand
- The ED department provides emergency services for the entire district across the main hospital as well as our three regional hospitals in Kaitaia, Dargaville and the Bay of Islands.
- The Department of Emergency Medicine has 49,000 attendances per year of which 25% are paediatric. The department is currently led by 21 SMOs and is accredited with ACEM for 24 months Advanced Training and Paediatric Logbook Training and has a successful training programme for both Part 1 and Part 2 trainees.

- salary paid in accordance with national pay scales for senior medical officers (NZ$ 190,000 -270,000 pa), basic 40 hour week
