We are seeking a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist with subspeciality interest in liaison psychiatry for a for a full time position in a regional general secondary care hospital in the popular and scenic Bay of Plenty.

- Home-based Treatment (HBT) is an important part of the Adult Community Mental Health and Addictions Acute Care Team. It is also a key part of community mental health services.
- The Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist provides psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients in the general medical hospital and outpatient clinic.
- As a Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist (C-L Psychiatrist), you connect psychiatry with other medical fields. You will work in a general hospital. You will team up with doctors, surgeons, and other healthcare workers. Your job is to assess and manage psychiatric conditions. You will also address the psychological and behavioral aspects of patients with complex medical and surgical illnesses.
- The role will involve providing expert assessment and treatment. This includes services in general hospitals and community care.
- 360 bed teaching hospital
- The Psychiatry department trains Psychiatric Registrars through the Upper Central North Island (UCNI) program. It also trains 5th and 6th year medical students from the University of Auckland.
The Bay of Plenty is a large region along the northern coast of New Zealand's North Island. It stretches 260 kilometres from the Coromandel Peninsula in the west to Cape Runaway in the east. The Bay of Plenty region is home to spectacular beaches, juicy kiwifruit and geothermal wonders.

Requirements for this job
- FRANZP or equivalent qualification
- Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand as a Specialist Psychiatrist
- Basic salary plus additional on call and out of hours allowances NZD 250000-400000 PA
