A child and adolescent psychiatrist is sought for a full time position in a secondary care hospital in New Zealand's North Island. Relocation package for international candidates.
The psychiatry service offers a comprehensive range of specialist services within the Taranaki region, including:
- 23-bed acute inpatient unit catering for adult / high needs and older people
- Out patient clinics
- Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services
- Mental Health Services for Older people
- Alcohol and Drug Services
- Consult Liaison
- Acute Assessment via the Mental Health Assessment Team / Co Response Service - responding to 111 calls.
Duties
The successful candidate will:
- Provide consultant services to children and their families requiring specialist care.
- Interact daily with other departments.
- Mentor junior medical staff attached to the service.
- Have the ability to work in a range of settings i.e. inpatient, outpatient and community settings inclusive of crisis work.
- Cover for colleagues in their absence.
- Participate in an on call 1:10 roster.
Professional Requirements
The ideal applicant will have:
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent.
- Eligible for an Annual Practising Certificate with a vocational scope of Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- Subspecialist training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to foster strong relationships with patients and colleagues.
- Commitment to teamwork, patient-centred care, and continuous professional development.
- Salary (SECA Collective Agreement scales) plus allowances for on call and extra duties
