An excellent opportunity is available for a new Advanced Trainee in General Medicine seeking a 12-month accredited Core Training appointment for 2027.
Based at a major regional teaching hospital in Victoria, this position offers broad General Medicine experience, daily consultant supervision, specialist outpatient exposure and a comprehensive education programme. The role is designed to support the development of confident, well-rounded General Physicians and provides an excellent environment for progression through Advanced Training.
The Position The successful Advanced Trainee will work with one of three inpatient General Medicine teams:
- Gastroenterology
- Neurology/Renal Medicine
- Endocrinology
The Advanced Trainee will manage a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions and gain experience in both inpatient and outpatient medicine.
There are also opportunities to manage complex and undifferentiated acute medical presentations within the Acute Medical Unit (AMU).
Some weekend duties are required, including consultant-supervised ward rounds, with rostering undertaken in accordance with the applicable Enterprise Bargaining Agreement.
Clinical Training
Daily consultant-led ward rounds are a central component of the position. As clinical experience and competence develop, the Advanced Trainee may have opportunities to lead ward rounds under consultant supervision.

Accredited Advanced Training Applications are invited from new Advanced Trainees in General Medicine seeking a 12-month Core Training appointment in 2027.
This is an accredited Advanced Training position offering structured clinical experience and supervision within a supportive physician training environment.
It represents an excellent opportunity for doctors progressing through physician training who wish to combine high-quality accredited training with the breadth of clinical experience available within a major regional referral hospital.
Education and FRACP Training Support

Candidate Requirements
This vacancy is specifically open to new Advanced Trainees in General Medicine seeking accredited Core Training for 2027.
Applicants should have:
- MBBS, MBChB or equivalent recognised medical degree
- Appropriate medical registration with AHPRA, or eligibility to obtain registration before commencement
- Completion of the training requirements necessary to commence Advanced Training in General Medicine
- Appropriate postgraduate physician training experience
- A demonstrated commitment to a career in General Medicine
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Effective communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
- Commitment to teaching, continuing professional development and evidence-based medicine
- Ability to participate in the required after-hours and weekend roster
