Opportunity Overview
An accredited Registrar in Paediatrics (Community and Hospital Based) position is available for 2026 within a large, progressive regional health service. This role provides an excellent blend of general, acute, developmental, and community paediatrics, making it well suited to registrars undertaking advanced training in General Paediatrics or those seeking broad, high-quality regional experience.
The position offers exposure to a diverse caseload in a supportive, teaching-focused environment that embraces modern clinical practice and technology.
The Role
This position is shared between hospital-based paediatric services and community paediatrics, with rotations typically structured as two weeks at each site.
Hospital-based component includes:
- General and acute paediatric inpatient and outpatient care
- Participation in child protection assessments in collaboration with statutory agencies, supporting advanced training logbook requirements
- Involvement in regional virtual ward rounds supporting smaller hospitals and visiting medical officers
- Exposure to shared-care paediatric oncology models, including management of febrile neutropenia and basic chemotherapy
- Neonatal care from 32 weeks’ gestation
- Access to advanced diagnostic services, including MRI and nuclear medicine
- Developmental and community paediatrics
- Integrated, family-centred care across outpatient and community settings
- Close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams delivering holistic paediatric services
The service maintains strong links with academic partners and clinical schools, offering opportunities to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as involvement in education and research supervision. Eligibility

- Completed prevocational training
- PGY4 + with previous paediatric medicine experience
- Eligible for general AHPRA registration
