Overview
An excellent advanced training opportunity is available for a Registrar in Geriatric Medicine commencing in 2026 with a major regional public health service in Victoria. This role is suitable for RACP-accredited advanced trainees as well as experienced non-accredited registrars seeking structured exposure to comprehensive geriatric medicine within a supportive, education-focused environment.
The position offers broad clinical experience across inpatient, ambulatory, acute, and community-based geriatric services, with rotations tailored to individual training needs while meeting service requirements.
Clinical Rotations
Registrars will rotate through a diverse range of geriatric medicine terms, which may include:
- Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) Unit
- Orthogeriatrics and Surgical Liaison
- Acute Geriatric Medicine (including Psychiatry and General Medicine consults)
- Geriatric Medicine in the Emergency Department
- Community Geriatric Medicine, including GEM@Home services
- General Geriatric Medicine
- Cognitive, Dementia and Memory Services (CDAMS)
- Telehealth Geriatrics
- Falls and Balance
- Continence Services
- Movement Disorders
Education and Training
The program places a strong emphasis on professional development and teaching, including:
- Participation in the Victorian Geriatric Medicine Training Program
- In-house registrar education and multidisciplinary teaching sessions
- Structured training pathways for RACP-accredited trainees, including the option of a combined multi-site advanced training program
