An excellent opportunity is available for an Unaccredited General Medicine Registrar to join a major regional health service in Victoria. The position offers exposure to Neurology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology and/or Perioperative Medicine and would suit a doctor seeking to consolidate broad general medical experience while progressing towards specialist training.
The role provides substantial clinical exposure, increasing autonomy and the opportunity to develop decision-making and leadership skills within a well-supported hospital environment.
The Position As a General Medicine Registrar, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality inpatient medical care while working across a range of medical teams and clinical presentations.
The position provides flexibility across medical services, including leave cover, creating opportunities to gain experience with a diverse patient population and a broad spectrum of acute and complex medical conditions.
You will work closely with:
- General Medicine Registrars and junior medical staff
- Unit Consultants and specialist physicians
- Acute Medical Unit consultants
- Emergency Medicine
- Intensive Care
- Surgical teams
- Experienced nursing and allied health professionals
Specialty Exposure
Depending upon service requirements and roster allocation, the position may provide experience within:
- Neurology
- Gastroenterology
- Endocrinology
- Perioperative Medicine
- General and acute medicine
Candidate Requirements
Applicants should have appropriate postgraduate medical experience for appointment at Registrar level and be capable of working effectively within a busy Australian hospital environment.
Candidates will normally require:
- MBBS, MBChB or equivalent recognised medical qualification
- Eligibility for appropriate medical registration with AHPRA
- Relevant postgraduate experience in General/Internal Medicine
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Effective communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
- Ability to manage acute and complex medical presentations under appropriate consultant supervision
- Evidence of required immunisations, including the 2026 influenza vaccination
