A Senior Medical Officer (Consultant) Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgeon is sought for a fixed term contract in one of the largesy district health boards in New Zealand's North Island. The role is based between two hospitals where the surgeon will manage dedicated elective clinic and theatre sessions and will be working in an environment that welcomes innovative practice and collegial working relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Takes professional care of and undertakes delegated clinical responsibilities for patients under his/her care
  • Conducts theatre, clinics and ward rounds, and other duties, using the allocated time efficiently and effectively as per agreed contract
  • Oversees Registrar’s activity to ensure patient care is delivered in accordance with standards and policy
  • Sees and advises promptly on patients referred for a specialist opinion
  • Is responsible for acute theatre sessions as per the after-hours agreed requirements
  • maintain professional development
  • participate in quality assurance programmes

 

Essentials:

  • medical degree accepted by WHO
  • completed surgical residency in general surgery
  • FRACS or equivalent
  • eligible for registration with Medical Council of New Zealand
  • fluent English communication (Academic IELTS with score 7.5 essential for non - native English speakers)
