We are looking for two enthusiastic Senior Medical Officers qualified in Rural and Remote Medicine to join a vibrant and friendly team in a 15 bed rural hospital in the North Island of New Zealand. It is a perfect time to join this team with a redevelopment currently underway that will include facilitites for an Accident & Medical Department, Radiology, After-Hours GP and Medical Ward scheduled to open in October 2018.
The hospital is a busy 15 bed rural hospital (that will move to 20 beds with the redevelopment) caring for medical, post-surgical and paediatric patients along with an Accident & Medical Department that (that will increase to 7 beds in October). The SMO is responsible for providing medical care to acutely ill patients in the Accident & Medical department as well as managing the inpatients in the General Ward. The cases managed at are complex and interesting, with specialist support provided from the local regional hospital. This position would suit a Specialist / Medical Officer with Rural Health experience or GP All-Rounder with some Emergency Medicine experience.

A generous salary package will be offered that includes substantial support for Continuing Medical Education.
To be considered for this role you must have the following credentials:
- postgraduate specialist qualification in Internal Medicine or General Practice (Family Medicine)
- experience in rural and remote medicine
- eligibility for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- fluent English language communication.
