Rural Medicine Registrar

Rural Hospital Registrars to join an accredited comprehensive training programme from January 2022. You will be part of a dynamic team of Rural Hospital Registrars and Consultants across a minimum of three sites during your four-year training. Your training will comprehensively cover all requirements of your DRHMNZ training programme during your employment.
There is close supervision for trainees in acute and outpatient settings, allied with a commitment to teaching. There is an active clinical training programme within the DHB including support for your DRHMNZ academic training components and required courses.
The hospital is a 250 bed regional general hospital with 24/7 emergency department and supports 3 small regional hospitals, providing secondary care services for a population of approximately 170,000. Auckland is the closest tertiary care centre. It is a regional base hospital providing a wide range of services including ED, medical specialties, surgical specialties, ICU, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Paediatrics, and Psychiatry.
As well as a warm climate, the "winterless north" offers excellent schools, affordable housing and scenic coastal areas offering a range of recreational activities. It is just two hours' drive or 25 minute flight from the international hub of Auckland and is well serviced with flights. There are great surf beaches and beautiful harbours and bays for sailing, kite surfing and windsurfing. It is also a top spot for fishing and diving with easy access to the world famous Poor Knights Marine reserve. There are also many beautiful forests and stunning hills to explore and climb.
