The Consultant in Rural Medicine role is based in a 28 bed hospital with a busy Emergency Room and Medical Department, out patient clinics, operating theatres, combined Medical, Surgical and Paediatric wards and many community based services. The hospital provides care for 25,000 people plus a huge influx of tourists during the summer holidays.
The role of the Rural Hospital Medicine Consultant is to provide medical care to acutely ill patients in the Accident & Medical department as well as the management of inpatients on the General Ward. The range of medical care managed at the hospital is complex and interesting

In order to be considered for this role you must have the following credentials:
- FRACP or equivalent qualification
- Experience in remote and rural medicine
- Eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Fluent English
