Role: Respiratory Physician
This is a new position for a recently qualified or experienced respiratory physician who will join two experienced respiratory physicians in a team which includes nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, sleep and respiratory laboratory technicians/ physiologists, and respiratory physiotherapists.
The service provides comprehensive specialist outpatient and inpatient respiratory services, and primary health care support. Supporting services on site include radiology, nuclear medicine, radiation and medical oncology, and pathology laboratory. Cardiothoracic surgical services are provided in Wellington as the tertiary referral centre.
The position involves the provision of
- general respiratory inpatient and outpatient services
- fibreoptic bronchoscopy
- reporting on sleep studies and respiratory lung function tests
- Knowledge and ability to manage cystic fibrosis patients.
- any experience in the supervision of respiratory function laboratory is desirable.
- participation in the general medicine call roster and the provision of limited holiday cover for general medicine.
Applicants must be eligible for vocational registration in Internal Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand with specialist training / qualification in Respiratory Medicine, as well as having demonstrated clinical, management, and teaching skills and the ability to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team.
A 350 bed secondary hospital, which services an urban population of 80,000 and a total population catchment of 168,000. In addition, the hospital is a teaching hospital, and is associated with both Auckland and Otago medical schools.
