We are looking for a Renal Registrar to join an accredited basic and advanced physician training programme in a regional base hospital in New Zealand from December 2017. The role is accredited for 24 months basic training and 12 months advanced physician training with the RACP.
The Renal service cares for 160 haemodialysis patients spread across the main unit in Whangarei and 2 satellite units in the mid and far north. There is a growing home therapy unit with 20 home haemodialysis patients and 40 peritoneal dialysis patients. The service cares for those who have a renal transplant (currently 95), as well as undertaking the regional vasculitis workload. Close supervision for trainees is provided in acute and outpatient settings (including tunnelled dialysis line insertion and renal biopsy), allied with a commitment to teaching. There is an active clinical training programme with didactic sessions, interactive based teaching, journal club and videoconferencing of RACP lectures.
