- There are seven Consultant Intensivists/Anaesthetists
- regional hospital 350 beds
- jobs accredited for foundation ( ie basic) level training by the College of Intensive Care Medicine.
Key Tasks:
- Assess patients for suitability of ICU admission prior to discussion with consultant.
- Ensure regular communications with the Consultant especially if there is a major change in the patient’scondition.
- Maintain legible notes of changes in patient management.
- On discharge of a patient from the Intensive Care Unit, personally contact the receiving team and hand over the patient, describing details of suggested further management.
- Complete a transfer of care summary for patients handed back to ward teams
- Assist other teams with placement of vascular access lines when other duties permit.
Essential Requirements
- Eligible for provisional or full general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Completed internship
- Minimum 2 years experience
- ACLS
- Team working skills
- Clear communication
