We are seeking a Surgical Registrar to join a team at a regional hospital in New Zealand to make a quota of 6 Surgical Registrars and 1 Urology Registrar 

There are seven surgeons providing a full range of elective and acute services covering  the full range of General Surgery but also cover specialist interests in Colorectal (including laparoscopic), Upper GI surgery, Oncoplastic breast and endocrine surgery. A high incidence of skin cancers including melanoma and local skin flaps is managed. Research and Audit opportunities are available.

The hospital benefits from excellent support from a growing radiology department that boasts the fastest CT scanner in the Southern Hemisphere and a modern theatre complex and ICU which allows the delivery of an excellent service across a wide range of surgery.

Close supervision to trainees in acute and outpatient settings is provided, allied with a commitment to teaching. There is an active clinical training programme with didactic sessions, interactive based teaching, journal club and videoconferencing.


Role Requirements:

  • Eligibility for General Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • Experience in General Surgery - 2 years minimum
  • Fluent English with Academic Module of IELTS average 7.5 or above
