Role: Anaesthesia Registrar
Start Date: 2nd August 2021
Duration: 6 months contract
Fixed term registrar appointment in anaesthesia for a physician with previous experience in the speciality and previous completion of Initial Assessment of Anaesthetic Competence (IAAC) or equivalent. The hospital is accredited for 104 weeks of Anaesthetics training with Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetist (ANZCA).
There are eight Registrars and two SHOs working in the Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management. There are 26 Consultant Anaesthetists based in Tauranga, seven Consultant Anaesthetists based in Whakatàne, and seven Consultants covering the Intensive Care Unit. The Head of Department is based at Tauranga Hospital.
The Registrar is responsible for providing Anaesthesia services for the Anaesthesia Group, according to the weekly roster. The number of sessions worked together with a Consultant is determined by the level of the registrar training.
- Eligible for general/ provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (this can be obtained by physicians working in one of the countries with comparable healthcare systems including UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, Australia, Spain, France, Germany, Netherlands, Greece Czech Republic, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Israel, Belgium.)
