Role Details

A Consultant Radiologist is sought for a progressive and cohesive radiology team in a 260 bed secondary care general hospital in the north of the North Island of New Zealand.

The hospital provides general medical, surgical, paediatric, psychiatric and O&G services for a population of 200,000 spread over a large region. It has a 24.7 emergency department and supports three small hospitals scattered across the agricultural region.

The radiology department provides a range of diagnostic imaging services undertaking over 100,000 procedures annually.

A wide range of services and modalities are performed including X-Ray; CT, MRI, ultrasound, mammography, fluoroscopy and basic interventional procedures. There is also a modern imaging equipment with two CT scanners (256 slice and 16 Slice) and a 1.5T MRI.

Here is your chance to join our multi-skilled, tight-knit team and relocate to one of the most beautiful areas of New Zealand. The development of special interests is encouraged where possible, as well as on-going education.

Multi-disciplinary meetings are held weekly with involvement from all specialities allowing for a close collegial working environment.

A strong sub-speciality interest or a sub-speciality fellowship would be an advantage.

You will need:

  • Specialist post-graduate qualification eligible for registration on the Vocational register with the Medical Council of New Zealand in the scope of Diagnostic & Interventional Radiology
  • FRANZCR or equivalent qualification is essential
  • Excellent teamworking and communication skills are essential to the successful delivery and improvement of the clinical services.

As well as a warm climate, the "winterless north" offers excellent schools, affordable housing and scenic coastal areas offering a range of recreational activities. It is just two hours' drive or 25-minute flight from the international hub of Auckland and is well serviced with flights.
