An exciting new opening for a Consultant Psychiatrist looking for a rural, farm, or beach lifestyle opportunity, living and working in a rural area of the north island of New Zealand exists with our client, a major district health board. The role is based in a small district hospital which is part of the Department of Psychiatry of the major regional hospital. You will have the opportunity to lead a multi disciplinary team and in turn will receive support for professional development. The scope of practice includes community clinics and management of in patients in the Sub Acute Unit.
The Department of Psychiatry provides a full range of psychiatric services and has accreditation for training junior psychiatrists for the Fellowship exams. The supervision and instruction of trainees is part of this role.
The location of the hospital where the role is based is only 45 minutes away from Whangarei, the nearest city and only 2hours 45 minutes from Auckland. There is a good range of educational opportunities for families with both private and public schooling nearby. The climate is sub-tropical and the are offers an exciting lifestyle for even the seasoned tourist. Water based activities available include water skiing, diving, sailing, sea kayaking, fishing, boating and swimming.
To be considered for this role you must have the following credentials:
- Specialist qualifcation in Psychiatry
- Eligibility for Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Fluent English communication
- Clean medical practice license
