New Zealand’s fastest growing city seeks a Psychiatrist to fill a position soon to be vacant due to retirement. The scope of practice is general adult psychiatry in hospital and community, in contact with primary care providers and psychiatric services for the elderly, children and adolescents, liaison and addictions psychiatry. A passion for service development and quality is sought and a strong interest in education and research appreciated.
The hospital is a 125 bed facility in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, essentially a satellite of the larger hospital in Tauranga, and has 24/7 emergency services, and general medical and surgical services. The psychiatric department has 10 beds for acute admissions, as well as substance abuse and eating disorder services.
The role is full time and permanent although part time applications can be considered. There is opportunity to work with Auckland University Medical School students and Psychiatry Registrars providing education and supervision.
You will need to hold or be eligible for vocational registration in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand and have FRANZCP or an equivalent qualification.
