We have an exciting new opening for a Consultant Psychiatrist looking for a rural, farm, or beach lifestyle opportunity, living and working in the far north of the north island of New Zealand in a region which has a high Maori population. This position would involve both conducting community clinics, and also clinical input into the Sub-Acute Unit.
This position is part of the region’s wider Mental Health Services. Inpatient services are available from the larger service in the regional hospital
Applicants should be eligible for or be able to work towards vocational registration as Specialist Psychiatrists with the Medical Council of New Zealand and should preferably have FRANZCP. An appreciation of Maori culture and rural/community psychiatric experience would be an advantage.
All applicants MUST be eligible for registration and be able to gain either locum tenens and /or vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
The province boasts a subtropical climate and some of the most scenic and exciting coastal areas in New Zealand. There are opportunities for outdoor activities, including surfing, diving, fishing, hiking and biking. On-site, there is a well-equipped staff gym and an open-air pool. Whangarei itself has all the convenient amenities of a modern, small city but the Auckland metropolis is only two hour's drive away for those special weekend activities.
- Qualifications: FRANZCP or equivalent qualification recognised by the Medical Council of New Zealand for vocational registration.
- License: Vocational Registration or Eligibility for Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Language: fluent English (IELTS Academic Module 7.5 average for non native speakers)
