Consultant psychiatrists specialising in child and adolescent psychiatry are sought for positions in multi-disciplinary Child/Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAHS) teams in the Wellington region of New Zealand.

Multidisciplinary teams include psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, psychotherapists, and administration staff. 

CAMHS teams provide specialist assessment and treatment for children, young people and their families/whanau who have moderate to severe mental health needs that cannot be managed in a primary care setting.


Responsibilities:
  •  work in a role integrated in the team
  • responsible for ensuring that all clinical steps necessary are taken to assist clients to achieve optimal health, wellbeing and safety through the provision of appropriate assessment, intervention and education.
  • provide high quality diagnosis, treatment and follow-up (or referral) of clients
  • participate in clinical development of the service


Requirements
  • Vocationally registered in psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) or eligible to become vocationally registered
  • FRANZCP or equivalent international qualification
  • Able to work flexibly, to meet the needs of acute clients when necessary
  • Able to use the electronic health record system
  • Have a current driver's license (not required, but highly desirable).
