The position is based at the largest provider of Mental Health Services in New Zealand, serving a catchment population of approximately 630,000 people in the North, West and Rodney areas of Auckland. It provides a comprehensive range of Mental Health and Addiction Services and has developed culturally aware and responsive mainstream services.
The Adult Mental Health Services comprises an integrated range of Adult Community and Inpatient Services. The North Community Team has both acute and recovery oriented services and you would be working across all areas of this Team.
We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist who is committed to providing a high standard of care and clinical leadership, has a strong patient focus, and enjoys the challenge of providing services to a diverse community.
There are strong peer review groups and excellent collegial support with a good mix of experienced and junior Consultants. The Adult Consultant On-Call Roster is 1:20+ with full Registrar support.
Educational and Licence Requirements
- Possess a Medical Degree registrable with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Have the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or a similar higher training qualification eligible for vocations registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- IELTS Academic module if non-native English speaker
The health board has 2 major hospitals and provides emergency, medical, surgical, maternity, community health and mental health services locally within its district as well as a range of services for the Auckland region, including child rehabilitation and respite at Takapuna’s Wilson Centre, forensic psychiatric services at the Mason Clinic in Point Chevalier, oral health services for children and young people from multiple locations through the Auckland Regional Dental Service and Community Alcohol and Drug Services
