An exciting new opening for a Consultant Psychiatrist looking for a role in managing patients with addictions, particlarly metamphetamine addiction, is available in a health board in the north island of New Zealand. The role is based in the Department of Psychiatry in a regional hospital. You will have the opportunity to lead a multi disciplinary team and in turn will receive support for professional development. The position has been created as a result of service expansion and new investment in addiction services.
The Department of Psychiatry provides a full range of psychiatric services and has accreditation for training junior psychiatrists for the Fellowship exams. The supervision and instruction of trainees is part of this role.
The location of the hospital where the role is based is only 2hours drive from Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand. There is a good range of educational opportunities for families with both private and public schooling nearby. The climate is sub-tropical and the are offers an exciting lifestyle for even the seasoned tourist. Water based activities available include water skiing, diving, sailing, sea kayaking, fishing, boating and swimming.
To be considered for this role you must have the following credentials:
- Specialist qualifcation in Psychiatry
- Eligibility for Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Subspeciality training in addictions
- Fluent English communication
- Clean medical practice license
