A Consultant Plastic and Reconstrucive Surgeon with skills in breast reconstruction and management of skin cancer is sought for a permanent role commencing early 2019 in a Regional Plastic Surgery Service in New Zealand.
The hospital, which has 260 beds and serves a population of 134,000, has embarked on significant campus redevelopment, with the expansion of emergency services and additional operating theatres. There is an internationally renowned plastic surgery and burns unit, regional rheumatology and public health services, and all specialties have a strong focus on excellence and innovation. The plastic surgery unit provides regional services to neighbouting district health boards - Wairarapa, Mid Central, Hawke's Bay, Nelson/Marlborough and Whanganui and supra-regional services in vascular anomalies and laser.
In addition to regular clinical duties in out patient clinics, operating theatres and in patient wards, the surgeon will also have a commitment to a general plastic trauma lists and will contribute to 'see and treat' skin lesion clinics.
Lower Hutt City is located close to Wellington, the Kapiti Coast and Wairarapa regions and provides opportunities for most recreational pursuits, sporting and cultural activities.
In order to be considered for this role, you must have the following credentials:
- Eligibility for vocational registration in plastic and reconstructive surgery with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- A minimum of one year's experience post Fellowship or specialist registration
- Fluent English communication (non native English speakers need IETLS Academic module with minimum score 7.5)
