Our client in New Zealand seeks a vibrant and enthusiastic paediatrician to join the Child Health Department in October 2021. This role is full time and permanent and based in a public sector hospital which has 350 beds and serves a population of 170,000. Newly qualified and experienced paediatricians are accepted for this position and subspecialist interests can be accommodated.
The hospital is a teaching hospital affiliated with the universities of Auckland and Otago which both have medical schools and is a centre for trainees in Paediatrics, General Practice and Emergency Medicine. It provides secondary level care and enjoys tertiary support from Starship Hospital in Auckland and Wellington which run satellite out patient clinics.
As a Paediatrician consultant, you will share a 1:8 acute roster covering the broad range of acute paediatrics with a 14 bed level 2A neonatal unit taking babies 28 weeks gestation (1000g) and over. The service is supported by dedicated Paediatric RMOs on site at all times. You will enjoy a range of outpatient clinics in the hospital and the community. The hospital is developing innovative models of care in partnership with nursing and general practice. Your special interests will complement those of the extant Paediatricians or can be developed in tandem once you are there.
Requirements – Qualifications and Licence
- To be eligible for this role you must hold or be eligible to hold vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.
- A specialist board certification or Fellowship accepted by the Medical Council of New Zealand is required.
The hospital is situated in a major university city and is at the hub of key routes to the central North Island ski fields, and river adventures. Wellington the capital city, is only a two-hour journey by road, as are the local wine growing regions.
