A Paediatric Speech and Language and Feeding Therapist is sought for a Child Early Intervention Center catering for children with special needs age 0-13 in Dubai.

It is a place where these very special kids can develop, progress and also have fun under the supervision of the most experienced and specialized therapists. It is a solution for parents who are spending a large amount of their time going from one place to another trying to find the right combined services for their children in large and busy Dubai.   The team consists of senior pediatric therapists under the supervision of a visiting developmental expert. They work together in creating a custom-made program for each child in order to reach their maximum potential and progress in both gross and fine motor skills as well as communication and cognitive skills. The specialties offered include Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Feeding, along with other complementary services.   The clinic mainly caters to neurodevelopmental disorders: neuromuscular diagnoses (Cerebral Palsy, Dystonia, etc.), genetic disorders, abnormal muscle tone (increased or decreased), sensory processing difficulties, delayed developmental milestones, fine motor/visual motor deficits and self-care difficulties.   The center has all the necessary equipment in addition to a pool, a sensory therapy room, a fully equipped gym as well as custom-made changing rooms.   In addition to the above, it collaborates with various international therapy institutions and have specialized visiting therapists introducing the latest techniques throughout the year with our children. Role Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Assess and create intervention plans for children with communication disorders/impairment.
  • Write detailed reports upon evaluation and follow-up.
  • Instruct and advise parents on a feeding/speech treatment plan.
  • Work on appropriate language development and communication stimulation.
  • Maintain records and case notes.
  • Assess and address feeding issues of premature babies, children with developmental delay, cranio-facial abnormalities (e.g. cleft lip and palate), and neurologically impaired children (e.g. genetic, trauma, neuromuscular disorder, hypoxia etc..).
  • Oversee the continued feeding development of children and follow-up with them.
  • Consult and work with team members of the multidisciplinary team to incorporate appropriate strategies and goals into the child’s plan to ensure the child’s fullest development.
  • Maintain confidentiality about clients and their families.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum Education: BA in Speech-Language Pathology/Pathologist. Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Visio
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Speech and Language Therapist- additional Feeding Experience (preferably dysphagia trained)
