A consultant Otolargyngologist specialising in head and neck surgery is sought for a permanent role in a 250 bed secondary care hospital just 2 hours drive from Auckland, New Zealand's largest city. The hospital provides all general medical, surgical and paediatric services and is a recognised training centre for the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (RACS) Otorhinolaryngology examinations. It has strong links with the University of Auckland. This is a permanent position, however, the hours and role could be flexed around the needs of the individual.
Our preferred candidate would be fellowship trained in subspecialty ORL (Rhinology and/or Head and Neck preferred) with a comprehensive scope of practise to cover most general ORL conditions.
Applicants must have a qualification that allows Vocational Registration as an Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgeon with the Medical Council of New Zealand. FRACS preferred.
Requirements:
- FRACS or equivalent qualification
- Eligibility for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery
- Fluent English communication (IELTS Academic module, mean score 7.5)
- Communication and relationship building skills
The surrounding area covers an area of 12,600 square kilometres with a population of approximately 164,000. It boasts some of the most scenic and exciting coastal areas of New Zealand in a subtropical climate. Popular water recreation areas include the Bay of Islands and Poor Knight Islands Reserves.
