Role: Orthopaedic Surgeon Consultant

The scope of practice will be general orthopaedic surgery with an interest in a subspecialty which can be Foot and Ankle surgery, Spine surgery or Hand surgery. You will partake in the general on-call roster and will contribute to management of trauma and in the provision of primary knee and hip joint replacement services. If desired, you will also be involved in delivering services in the private sector.
The orthopaedic service is a generalist one with both elective and trauma work undertaken. In particular elective hip and knee replacement surgery and general orthopaedic trauma surgery (predominantly occurring on scheduled day time acute trauma operating lists) will be an essential part of any orthopaedic surgeon’s workload as well as participation in the on call roster.
You will make up a team of 8 Orthopaedic Specialists. There is also a Medical Officer, 6 Registrars (two are on the national training program) and House Officers.
Applicants must hold FRACS Orthopaedics or equivalent and be eligible for vocational registration in Orthopaedic Surgery with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
