Our client has a vacancy for a consultant ophthalmologist with a specialist interest for a full time, permanent role.

We are seeking a full time Specialist Ophthalmologist with a sub-speciality interest that will make a contribution to the service. Whilst subspeciality interest can be varied, it is essential that the applicant be able to undertake cataract surgery.
You must have a qualification that allows Vocational Registration as an Ophthalmologist with the Medical Council of New Zealand. It would be preferred if the applicant had a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO), however other equivalent certifications such as FRCOPHTH and CCT, FRCSC, American Board of Ophthalmology are accepted.
Participation in the consultant on-call roster (1:4) is required.
The role is based in a region of the North Island of New Zealand with 4 hospitals covering an extensive area of territory. The largest hospital is a regional base hospital with 350 + beds providing secondary care services including 24/7 emergency department, medical and surgical specialties, ICU, ENT, O&G, Paediatrics and Psychiatry. The three smaller hospitals provide basic primary and secondary care. The population has complex health needs.
The successful applicant will be living in a beautiful part of New Zealand with warm summers, mild winters and lots of opportunities for outdoor activities on land and at sea just two hours' drive from Auckland, with regular flights to and from Auckland Airport.
