Medical Laboratory Scientist - Autolab Biochemistry & Haematology

This is a new role in a brand new hospital based science laboratory where you will join the AutoLab scientist team to process biochemistry and haematology samples. 

The hospital is a 260 bed regional facility providing standard secondary medical and surgical services with 24/7 emergency department, ICU, paediatrics and obstetrics and gynaecology.

Role Duties:

  • You will be responsible for processing and analysing specimens in AutoLab and ensuring that all testing is performed conforming to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and IANZ requirements.
  • provide a quality & safe laboratory service that ensures timely, accurate results to laboratory users.
  • participate in the receipt, documentation, registration, processing and reporting of all specimens, including those referred to other laboratories, as required by authorized policies and protocols.
  • perform other technical and operational duties normally expected of a Laboratory Scientist, such as those involving quality and safety for the efficient and effective operations of the laboratory service.

  • Confident with computer based LIS systems
  • Positive, adaptable, flexible and motivated
  • Availability to work rostered shift duty to cover 24 hour laboratory service on a 1 in ten rotational basis.

Essential Requirements

  • New Zealand Registered & Licensed Medical Laboratory Scientist
  • experience using Biochemistry and Haematology equipment
  • Morphology knowledge as an advantage, 
  • a passion for Patient service to join the Autolab team. 
  • Experience in automation diagnostics will be an advantage
