This role suits a General Physician or General Practitioner with an interest in rural and remote medicine or emergency medicine and would like to work as part of a small team in a 12-bed hospital which provides community based services to a rural, and largely Maori population.
We want candidates with a real enthusiasm for rural hospital medicine, where you can truly practice and be committed to improving and developing services in a rural community. You must be eligible to register with the Medical Council of New Zealand and we can assist with this and work visa.
If you are qualified, or about to qualify, as rural doctor under the Royal NZ College of General Practitioners, Division of Rural Hospital Medicine or a Specialist / Generalist with Rural Health experience or a GP All-Rounder with some Emergency Medicine experience, talk with us about the next step in your career.
The role is based in a region of the North Island of New Zealand with 4 hospitals covering an extensive area of territory. The largest hospital is a regional base hospital with 350 + beds providing secondary care services including 24/7 emergency department, medical and surgical specialties, ICU, ENT, O&G, Paediatrics and Psychiatry. The three smaller hospitals provide basic primary and secondary care. The population has complex health needs.
Dargaville Hospital is a 12 bed rural hospital with an Acute Assessment Unit, Outpatient clinics and many community based services. The cases managed at Dargaville Hospital are complex and interesting, with specialist support provided from Whangarei Hospital.
