Our client has a vacancy for a consultant physician specialising Infectious diseases in a regional hospital in New Zealand commencing in early 2020.

You will join a team of 16 physicians who work across both Acute Medicine and subspecialty ambulatory services providing acute internal medicine services with a subspeciality practice of infectious diseases.
The service internal medicine department has a coronary care unit with five beds, three medical wards with 68 beds and a spacious outpatient facility. The hospital prides itself on having a supportive collegial atmosphere with great rapport across specialities and services. The acute Medical service works closely with the Emergency Department teams in all Northland hospitals to provide acute care to those presenting acutely to hospital.
The role is based in a region of the North Island of New Zealand with 4 hospitals covering an extensive area of territory. The largest hospital is a regional base hospital with 350 + beds providing secondary care services including 24/7 emergency department, medical and surgical specialties, ICU, ENT, O&G, Paediatrics and Psychiatry. The three smaller hospitals provide basic primary and secondary care. The population has complex health needs.
The successful applicant will be living in a beautiful part of New Zealand with warm summers, mild winters and lots of opportunities for outdoor activities on land and at sea just two hours' drive from Auckland, with regular flights to and from Auckland Airport.
