House Officer Obstetrics and Gynaecology

This role is for a house officer at the level of at least PGY2 for a run in Obstetrics and Gynaecology starting January 2022 or as soon as possible. This 6-month run is followed by a further 3 month run in relief and another rotation.

The post is based in a regional district general hospital with 260 beds serving a population of over 200,000 across a large catchment area covering 12600 km of largely agricultural land and forest with a high Māori population. The hospital provides secondary care in most of the medical and surgical specialities and is supported by the tertiary care centres in nearby Auckland.

The hospital is located in the north-western region of the north island of New Zealand and is just two hours' drive or a 25 minute flight from the international hub of Auckland.

It has a warm year-round climate and offers excellent schools, affordable housing and scenic coastal areas offering a range of recreational activities.


Requirements:
  • Medical degree and internship completed
  • Eligible for provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
  • previous experience in O&G is not essential for this role
