A registrar in General Surgery is sought to cover the period Dec 2019 – February 2020 in a regional hospital in New Zealand, starting as soon as possible. The hospital has 250+ beds with 24/7 Emergency Department and all major medical and surgical specialities.

As a General Surgical Registrar you will work alongside skilled and supportive general surgical, colorectal, upper GI, breast and oncoplastic, melanoma, endocrine and laparoscopic surgeons and have the opportunity to learn and undertake endoscopy and minor procedure plastics and skin lesion removals. The department is well supported by all the other services. Radiology has the latest CT scanner, the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, and Emergency Medicine staff actively utilise ultrasound in their patient care, with 2 machines in the ED.

The successful applicant will be living in a beautiful part of New Zealand with warm summers, mild winters and lots of opportunities for outdoor activities on land and at sea just two hours' drive from Auckland, with regular flights to and from Auckland Airport.

Requirements:

•           Medical Degree from WHO approved medical school, completed Internship and minimum of 2 years’ experience post internship

•           License: General Registration or Eligibility for General Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand

•           Language: fluent English (IELTS Academic Module 7.5 average for non native speakers)
