This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced General Service Manager to join one of New Zealand’s largest and fastest growing health boards to manage the diagnostic services and clinical support division.


Main Facts:

  • Full time, permanent role in public sector district health board
  • Major city in the north island of New Zealand with excellent educational, cultural and leisure opportunities
  • Manage the service delivery and performance of all delegated services, workforce planning and risk management, finance management
  • Tertiary qualification in business or clinical discipline and experience in similar roles.


The Position

As an astute clinical and operational leader you’ll instinctively know what high quality health care delivery looks like and be genuinely excited about developing sustainable services, as well as consistently delivering on budget, revenue and activity targets.

The role will work closely with the Senior Management Team to ensure the on-going development and implementation of services and processes to ensure the seamless delivery on the DHB Statement of Intent.

You consider it’s important to set the standards, to proactively anticipate issues and liaise with services to quickly remedy these. You appreciate the health environment is constantly changing and new technology and innovative ways of working invite possibilities but also challenges on which you need to lead and collaborate. You understand cost considerations are part of running a large division and can effectively manage complex financial, human resource and business decisions.

You will have strong alignment with the integral priorities of the organisation to achieve the best patient experience and best clinical outcomes, along with possessing the energy and determination to lead and embrace change in this challenging and ultimately rewarding environment role modelling our values.

You must hold a tertiary or professional qualification and relevant business or clinical qualification and have experience of service management and innovation.

The Location

The successful applicants will be living in a beautiful part of New Zealand with warm summers, mild winters and lots of opportunities for outdoor activities on land and at sea, in Auckland, the largest city of New Zealand with a population of over 1 million people. The city is blessed with two harbours, stunning beaches, museums, theatres, shops and excellent educational establishments.
