A Consultant Gastroenterologits is sought for a full time, permanent role in an university city in the north island of New Zealand. The Gastroenterology Department in this regional hospital provides quality outpatient gastroscopy and colonoscopy, ERCP, liver elastography, outpatient clinical care, inpatient gastroenterology care and bowel cancer screening services to the 160,000 people in the district. It is affiliated to the University of Otago, has a training gastroenterology registrar in thedepartment, and has a research relationship with Massey University. This environment provides excellent opportunity for both teaching and research.
The city and regional area has a strong musical and cultural community, excellent schooling, and terrific sporting opportunities. Nearby are Ruahine and Tararua forest parks, Himitangi and Foxton beaches and alpine Mount Ruapehu all within 2 hours of the city.
The role encompasses in patient and out patient management, endoscopic procedures and the education and supervision of junior medical staff.
- Applicants must be eligible for vocational registration in Internal Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand with specialist training / qualification in Gastroenterology
- FRACP or equivalent (American Board Certification, FRCP CCT , FRCPC)
- Demonstrated clinical, management, and teaching skills and the ability to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team.
- IELTS Academic Module mean score 7.5 for non native English speakers
