- there are 17 FACEMS and other emergency medicine trained specialists working in the department, split between the two sites.
- the roster involves approximately 18 shifts over a six week period
- provision for ample paid CME and vacation leave to take when you want to take time for fun or learning.
- Provide a 24/7 service
- Have approximately 33,000 and 16,000 patient visits per year respectively
- Are supported locally by nearly all medical and surgical specialties
- Have mid-level providers, junior doctors and medical students working or rotating through them
- accredited by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine to deliver 12 months Registrar training.
- The training programme has been successful with trainees recently passing their fellowship exams.
- All Consultants are expected to participate in education and assessment of junior medical staff and students in the department.

Requirements:
- medical degree from WHO accredited school
- eligible for vocational or provisional vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- FACEM or equivalent from USA/Canada/ UK/ Ireland
