Role: Registrar Emergency Medicine
(Commencing January 2022 and August 2022 – 6 Month Fixed Term Rotations)
6 month ACEM accredited training post, rated as a rural emergency medicine run.
The role is based in a 230 regional general hospital providing secondary medical services with 24/7 emergency department.
You will enjoy a high level of support and training from Consultants and other senior medical staff, and will also have the opportunity to teach other RMOs, and Medical Students.
Your roster is such that you will have plenty of time off to enjoy all that Rotorua has to offer. Beautiful lakes, world class mountain biking trails, mineral pools and loads of outdoor adventure activities are what make Rotorua a fantastic lifestyle choice. Only 1 hour from the most beautiful beaches in NZ and 2.5 hours from the ski slopes.
To undertake investigations which may be helpful in formulating a diagnosis.
To manage and treat the patient according to best clinical practice possible.
To record the relevant patient history, physical signs including vital signs, level of consciousness and results of investigations.
To record either a definitive or differential diagnosis.
To notify nursing staff of any important instructions regarding patient management
To record all medications dosages and treatments. Complete and issue prescription for patient as required.
Refer patients back to their named General Practitioner for follow-up where appropriate.
- Eligible for provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
