This is an exciting and challenging role for a physician who likes to combine obstetric and general practice skills. The District Medical Officer practises independently and in a variety of settings using skills in obstetrics , emergency medicine and primary healthcare.
The District Medical Officer,obstetrics proceduralist position provides clinical service to the hospital as well as outreach clinics in surrounding remote communities. This position reports to and is supported by the Senior Medical Officer at each site. The successful candidate will be rostered to clinical duties in the Emergency Department and/or GP clinics at each hospital.
•Provide general practice services in hospital and clinic settings
•Provide emergency services in hospital based ED
•Obstetric services in area with high percentage of Aborigines and high risk pregnancies.
•WHO recognised medical degree
•Eligible for registration with Medical Board of Australia
•Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General
•Practice (RACGP) or equivalent
•Obstetrics postgraduate qualification
•Minimum requirement of 12 years experience in general practice environment, and be capable of independent practice. Experience in rural hospital settings desired.
